Okay. *deepbreath*
I finished this a few days ago, but have been putting off posting this for fear of failure, but here goes.
I've been doing some 3D modeling. I want to produce and sell some chibi figurines. They are modular, so the heads and tails come unattached and must be assembled to the body. That way I can produce a bunch of different species and anyone who wants one can get one(in theory) in the species of their choice.
Here's where the potential for failure comes in. These were sculpted digitally, and I don't really have the money to print them out. I have two potential printers - one wants $120, the other has not gotten back to me in far too long, so I'mma write him off unless he suddenly comes through.
I don't have $120, so I turn to you, my viewers, for crowdsourcing on the print costs.
The chibis are going to be printed at high definition using a photo-acrylic printer, so they're not going to be all grainy and bumpy like fused filament fabrication printers tend to be. I believe the printer I'm planning to use uses a photo acrylic printer.
They will be about 2 inches tall.
After I get my prototypes, I'm planning to make silicone molds and use those to make high quality resin castings.
So here's the deal. If you Paypal me money to shadarack@gmail.com, and if I get $120, I can produce, cast and distribute these. If I do not get the funding together, I will refund everyone who donated. Just like with Kickstarter, I'm going to have reward levels.
<$10 - You get my thanks for contributing.
>$10 - You get an unpainted, unassembled raw acrylic casting of a body, and your choice of head and tail of the heads and tails I produce.
>$20 - You get an assembled, hand-painted(by yours truly) chibi of your choice of head and tail. The acrylic will be primed, then painted with acrylic paint, then sealed with a matte finish clear acrylic varnish except on the eyes, where it will be a gloss finish clear acrylic varnish.
>$50 - You get your choice of painted or unpainted raw acrylic chibi of any species you want. I'll make a new head and tail set to your specifications.
>$100 - REALLY? Okay - You get a chibi of any species I have already produced AND a 3D commission printed at the same definition(and approximate size) as the chibi figurines.
>$3000 - Why you do this? WHY? Okay, whatever. You just bought me my own 3D printer, seriously, what do you want? If it's within my capacity, I'll sculpt, print, and hand-paint it for you.
If it looks like I will get more then the $120 I need for funding, I'll be adding additional species to the lineup of chibis I am producing. Currently, I have the modeling done for a feline head, a wolf/fox head and a squirrel head. I have also done a feline tail, a fox tail, a wolf tail and a squirrel tail.
If you decide to donate, please include your FA name and, if you donate enough for one of the rewards, specify what you would like.
If I am not producing a species you want, but you still want to donate, tell me what species you want and I'll add you as a conditional donor, which means that I will not count you towards the total I need for printing until/unless I add the species you want.
If you'd like a better view of any of the figures/parts, let me know. I'll post screenshots...
