<<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>Had a lot of fun with this one - especially her grin. Somehow I managed to get that terrifying, insane smile down JUST right, with the very first sketch.
The axe on the other hand, took a lot of redrawing. Still not completely happy with it, but hey, this is just for a game post, not a commission or something.
again, more apologies for the lateness of the post. Even more sorry for the latest of next post. I have a full schedule at work next week, so we'll see when I get the time to draw...
The strange V in the water is moving straight for the boat at quite a quick pace, and as Albus encourages his potential paramour to relocate her flirtatious self, the wake suddenly changes directions, sliding right up against the riverboat. Albus glances down at the water, just as Mekie turns to ask him what he and the duchess are up to, which is why only she sees the boathooks appear out of thin air to hook onto the railing.
A solid *THUMP* makes the riverboat shudder, and coaxes a shrill shriek out of the duchess and Albus suddenly finds something is in the way of his attempts to see what is causing the wake.
An instant later, he realizes what's in his way IS the source of the wake! As the knight's eyes refocus, the duchess's shriek makes a lot more sense, as Albus finds himself staring at a longship full of disreputable looking ruffians, brandishing a variety of weapons.
The Duchess has quite a set of lungs on her, if perhaps not the padding to go with them, and her shriek is quite piercing, alerting all on the boat that something is amiss, although it will likely take a minute or two for the various members of the group to reach the deck...
Initiative roll:
Bandits x 12: 1D20 = 17
Albus: 1D20 = 4+4(init bonus)-1(surprise) = 7
Mekie: 1D20 = 4+4(init bonus)-2(surprise) = 6
A rather husky Grizzly Bear leaps out of the boat, clearing the railing and landing on the deck in front of Sir Albus, accompanied by a general cry of dismay and anger from her compatriots in the longboat! Her hasty departure has caused the craft to rock perilously, and giving Albus a moment's respite from what otherwise might be a deady swarm of 12 to 1 odds. She leers at him, with an awful lot of teeth.
She's wearing a steel chestplate for armor(and even in the thick of battle, Albus can't help notice it appears she's wearing nothing underneath that!), and wielding a wicked half-moon battle-axe with a revere spike. A leather skirt banded with plates of riveted iron hangs from her hips, and she stands bear-pawed(haha!) on the deck, claws digging into the wood planking to secure her footing. A steel helm with a row of spikes down the crest finishes her ensamble.
All this takes but a moment to register with Albus, then he has no more time to stare. Muscles under her thick brown pelt bulging, she swings that wickedly curved axe horizontally, just under the level of Albus' chin. An insane laugh burbles from her throat as the bear's eyes glaze an insane red...
Berzerkess Bear attack 1d20-2=8 vs 20-2(shield not ready)=18 AC
Albus raises his morning star, having left his shield leaning against the railing while flirting with the dutchess. The heavy spiked head of the mace easily turns aside the Bear's battleaxe, although with the berserk rage in her, she knocks him back half a step!
And...go!
Mekie, you get to go after Albus, who is right in the thick of it, so let him state his action first. Marissa, Na'Nfr, Whault, you easily hear the duchess' shriek. Depending on your actions, you could conceivably be on deck an ready for combat in 3 rounds. Luck and your choices may change that number.

The feline's eyes widen when the longboat comes into his vision, quickly managing to get his morning star to hand before the thud of the intruder drew his attention. He examined the pirate, drawing in all the details, you know, to get the advantage in a fight, not any other reason, of course, he's a knight.
After managing to deflect the incoming blow Albus glances at his shield laying there against the railing, deciding against maybe getting his head cut off when reaching for it he would instead grasp his morning star in both hands and adopting an defensive stance.
"I normally wouldn't hit a woman..." He said before swinging his weapon at his assailant, he wanted to defend himself but he also needed to stay a threat, he grimmest looking at the other pirates on there ship, he really hoped that his new companions were as good as he was told they were.
((Sup =3 Dat grin though Haha. Time for some bad knight/chivalry/honor jokes 6 words at a time)

Mekie seeing Albus almost get his head lopped off as he starts combat with the bear woman mekie will rush over to his aid yelling out at the top of her lungs "RAIDERS". with both whips already in her hands she rushes at the bear woman and stops 15 feet away from her. "hey lady im gona need to see your ticket." she yells as she strikes out at the woman with the whip in her right hand and attempts to trip her. (thats a melee touch attack and if it hits we do opposed str or dex rolls. she would normaly get an attack of opportunity but im well out of the range of her axe so she dosnt)
(( I can totally sympathize on the crazy schedule thing lately. No worries! Take your time!! Also, oh my god, yes. The expression is perfect! Oooh, she crazy! <3 ))
Hearing the Shriek, Whault gives himself a quick pat-down, just to ensure all his gear is in place -- it's been a slow couple of days! Completing the frantic check, he breaks into a haphazard sprint for the deck.
On the occasion that he encounters any passengers, he supplies one of several phrases which are always comforting when issued by an armed individual in a hurry, such as:
"Passengers are recommended to return to their quarters!"
"Please remain below deck until further instruction!"
and the ever popular "Nothing to worry about, everything is under control!"
