I love this style - I guess you'd call it smudgy? It makes me think of a finger painting, but it's so striking. :D

I think the word your looking for is "painterly", look at some paintings by Frans Hals, Rembrandt or van Gogh and you'll also see visible brushstrokes.

Anyway, nice image. The light seems to come from the upper right and to draw the eye in the same direction Robin is looking.
