One thing I'm curious about: if someone were to hold an eligible item, and looked through the ring at a mirror, would they be able to see the resulting form in their reflection on the other side? That seems like it'd be a smart way of 'previewing' the changes before using the ring, if that's the case.

Kiiiinda. But you also look back through the ring that's being reflected. i drew a simple sketch of it at one point.

Uh wait a sec... pretty sure you can exploit the rings to get art of yourself or your fursona.

Just get art be it sculpture or drawing or digital or whatever, let it pass trough ring, then release it and pull your hand out. You have a piece altered to depict you. If you use the ring properly beforehand to turn into your fursona, you can now get free art of your fursona. Who knows maybe you can digitally store pieces of art from artists you like and then have their pieces altered to depict your character instead? Alternatively do commissions where you in fact use a provided by commissioner refsheet to turn into their fursona, partially, then alter some digital art piece and turn back to original form.

Yup! It's intentionally designed that, if used carefully and properly, it can have some really beneficial uses.

You could, in theory, replace art from artists with your character. Kinda questionable morally, but the ring doesn't care about morality. just does what it's told.

Or was it something else I brought up?

Okay. I understand now. I didn't realize it was the person being commissioned that was using the ring.

Yeah, just make a template for YCH with some basic character you can draw well, make copies of image, turn into others OCs using their refsheets, then alter the YCH copies! Quick and easy and way less pressure on your wrists!
