The sixth member of Team Sol, a band of Edenites working for the Joint Staff. These eight members serve individual branches of the service, working among their fellow soldiers on the field of duty to protect the Ten Empire from PHALANX and their armies of machines and psionic soldiers. When their CO calls on them, however, they go on "special assignments" and the Team comes together to go on suicide missions and vigilantism. Counterterrorists, Vigilantes, Special Ops and ESP specialists, Team Sol is the last line of defense to counter the growing threat of psionic beings everywhere!
The year 2022 AD on Earth would mark the beginning of the foundation of the United Earth Federation, an international government representing the Superpowers of the world that will steer the path of humanity towards a plan of preserving the race on a dying planet. It is in the middle of June where the United States, still engaging in a long and tiresome war against Terrorism, struck a lucky break. Osama Bin Laden, Mohammed Omar, and many many other leaders of the Taliban and Al Quaeda were caught and arrested. It was only achievable by the combined efforts of the United States and the UN by finally deciding to put their foot down on terrorism once and for all, with the persuasive speech of President Arnold Schwarzenegger.
With the capture of their leaders, the grip terrorists claimed on Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq loosened and unravelled quickly. The people rose to arms, fighting back against the confused troops. Soldiers began to surrender without a fight as they beheld the sight of a unified army of nations rolling across their borders. With the military threat removed, the world began to rebuild the war-torn middle-east, transforming it into a golden age of culture and peace that lasted for 300 years, along with the foundation of the United Earth Federation.
Deep in the shadows, however, the Taliban and Al Quaeda were far from defeated. Reduced to bands of raiders lead by second-rate warlords, they fought both UEF forces as well as each other. Many came to believe that Osama Bin Laden or a leader equal to his might, would one day return in their darkest hour to unite them in their former glory of rule and establishing the true traditions of Islam.
Amongst the sects of Sunni Islam fanatics, there were those Taliban who'd defected from the centuries old fight to defend the new age of peace. Amongst these were a femme fatale band of women called the Red Riders. The Red Riders, established in 2256 AD, represented decades of women oppression and the struggle they'd achieved to attain equal rights. The scattered Taliban bands held strongly to the ideals against dominating women, and eventually, the detained women at last stood up to their husbands and captors. Riding atop salvaged hovercycles, they rode across the sands liberating other women to join in the cause. By the turn of the 23rd century, their numbers rose to 5,000. Eventually, the Neo-Aghanistan Republic heard of these fabled women and their valor, and sought to enlist their aid. The Red Riders agreed, under the promise that a strong woman(preferably one of their own) would hold a political position amongst their ranks. Shiv Sayegh, a Red Rider assasin, was made Secretary of Defense for the country.
Shiv Sayegh's parents had been murdered outside of a movie theatre by a band of Taliban who'd snuck inside Kabul. They'd taken her to their camp and for years, used her as their object of abuse and worship. She was rescued by the Red Riders and trained how to fight in the ways of the assassin. By herself, she's caused more deaths of Taliban warriors from within, and honestly, nothing gave her more pleasure.
The Secretary of Defense in the Republic of Neo-Afghanistan also was in charge of enforcing the laws upon the common people. Her orders as a politician were to assasinate the President if anything suspicious were to come. Her time seeing a peaceful society instead of the war-ravaged outskirts soon softened her, and her sense of vengeance matured to a strong sense of justice. Valuing the judicial system established by Neo-America, she ensured that law enforcement punished the wrongdoers accordingly. Though crime still existed, everyone was treated innocent until proven guilty, with a fair trial by jury. Though sometimes the system failed, criminals were treated humanely.
Shiv's orders soon came that she had to assassinate the president before a certain bill was passed. Conflicted at first, her duties to her country resonated more strongly. Though she did not trust the president as a man, she warned him of the Red Riders' treachery and attempted to flee with him to safety in the presidential bunker, but her sisters caught up with them first. The President was flown to safety, but Dasmascus stayed behind to fight off the same women that saved her life. She was thrown into the middle of the desert with no water, where the wind and sand would eventually consume her. Just as she was on the verge of death, a helicopter with the grecian emblem swooped down and saved her. The fate of her country was never known.
Eventually becoming the snake woman we see now, she was recovered from the freezing process with her memory gone. Her mistrust for men was still existent, especially those who were not mutants like her. Though Asimov could never convince her, it was Shelzan who was able to persuade her into joining Team Sol. Today, while working for Team Sol, she works side by side both Winterhawk and Shelzan in the IPSS.
Quiet, honor bound, and distant, Shiv is the fiercest warrior and the bravest of Team Sol. With a strong sense of justice and idealism, she will do what is right, even if a situation morally calls for a different decision. She will not kill a thief, for instance, even if they did murder someone for the money in the wallet. She will not always abide by federal laws to do what is right. Though her methods have never been harmful to the Team or the Joint Staff as a whole, she is not so easily trusted: something she would never expect any less. Having experience with Sel, Shiv works with her best. Sierra and Shiv, however, have differing opinions. While both do believe in a sense of justice and doing what is right, Sierra is a realist. She follows the laws established by the Ten Empires and will kill an enemy if, realistically, there's no way to stop it from happening again. As a feminist, Shiv has little trust in men, and thus has a hard time cooperating with the male members of Team Sol. Jonas, especially, she finds a male chauvinist pig. Ironheart and Timothy, however, she has the most respect for amongst the men. Ironheart, as a fellow cop, shares in her sense of justice, but is restrained by the rules he has to follow. For that, Shiv respects him. Timothy comes across to Shiv as someone who understands the ideal of persecution, and though she does show some love interest for him, she is afraid to get too close to a man.
Shiv is an Anti-Telepath. Like most Telepaths, she can create a telepathic network with others applying the same rules. However, this is a telepathic signal of opposing polarity with repelling properties. Those who are part of this telepathic network(including herself, even when her powers are inactive), are completely immune to all powers of the Telepathic Type(Psychomechanics, Telemechanics, Telepathy, Mind Control, Illusions, Memory Control, Empathy, Clairvoyance, Precognition, Dream Eating, etc.). That means that those with bionics can benefit from this power, as it will prevent one with psychomechanics from hacking into ones mind. Drones also benefit from this anti-telepath network, as her power can connect with their artificial brains.
Shiv's suit is specially equipped with a second layer of armor, paricularly a hard silicon rubber armor that increases her resistance to electricity and some energy weapons. While this doesn't sound too powerful, consider that psychokinetics and telepathy is merely electrical signals passing through your brain. Thus, she is more resistant to forms of psychokinetics in general, making her a force not to be trifled with.
