Negative Personality Traits:
Rebellious- While she is dedicated to her position within the Pride, Vi's knack for thinking for herself and often feeling like an outsider, coupled with her secret dreams can often lead her to lash out when she feels attacked or overly criticized. She may start picking out the flaws in her pridemates, or ignore direct orders if she feels the situation calls for it. This can backfire on her though and get her into trouble.
Self-critical- Because of her feelings of isolation, she always feels she must work extra hard to make up for her shortcomings. As a Huntress this works out, but often drives her to overkill. She will overwork herself to exhaustion or til she begins to get sloppy and make mistakes, and then she will berate herself endlessly when shes made them.
Cynical- She's a pond half empty kind of girl. She cant help but be suspicious of everyone, thinking they have alterior motives or are out for themselves, or are trying to trick her in some way. Her guard is always up and she rarely lets anyone past her walls to genuinely trust them.
History
Family Ties:
Father: Demu
Mother: Cyrah
Siblings: Aifo & Kendi
Other Family: TBD
Mate: None
Offspring: None
Vi was born in a litter of three to parents who were both guards. She was the last born behind her elder sister Kendi and brother Aifo. While her siblings were both healthy and boisterous cubs, Vi was the runt. Small, and seemingly sickly, Her parents feared she would die not long after her birth. Her odd coloring didnt exactly help either, as the more superstitious Keepers claimed the strange marbling markings of the cub were a bad omen. However, they did their best to help the new parents give Vi the best start in life they could. But it seemed that Life for Vi was to be a constant struggle regardless. Just being able to nurse was a fight, as she was often pushed and bullied by her larger and stronger siblings. Little Vi had to learn to be a scrapper if she wanted to eat. And as she and her siblings grew up, she was not only subjected to bullying from them, but from other pride cubs as well. Her odd coloring may as well have been a target on her back. Fearful cubs refused to play with her, and the bolder cubs would call her names or get too rough with her. And when her brother and sister began to be ridiculed by their peers for being her siblings, they too turned on her so they could fit in, or ignore her altogether.
Vi became an introvert and a loner not because she wanted to be, but because nobody would be her friend. And so she decided she didn't need friends and at one point decided to run away from home in the night. Of course, this did not end well for the cub. In fact, it ended in disaster. Vi was discovered by Hyenas, and being as small as she was, there was no way to outrun them. the pack chased her up into a tree and trapped her there. Vi's mother, who had woken in the night and discovered her daughter was missing, came in search of her and found the cub just in time. But as Cyrah valiantly tried to drive off the Hyenas, the lone lioness was mobbed and suffered terrible injuries. Her hind foot was ripped off, which permanently crippled the guard, while one of her eyes was punctured and left her partially blind.
Vi was relatively unharmed save for a nick to the ear, but it seemed as though the entire pride blamed her for her mother's injuries. None more so than her own father. Demu never treated Vi the same after that. While he wasn't violent, He wouldn't look at her or speak to her again, treating her as if she didn't exist. The harassment from the other cubs seemed to border on cruelty after that, calling her cursed and "Bad-Luck Bait". Only Vi's mother was still kind and loving towards her... which only made Visola feel worse. She blamed herself as much as the others blamed her, and for a while she suffered depression.
She had resigned herself to the idea she was always going to be an outcast.
But one day, in the early morning when she was down by the drinking pools, the cub had spotted a huge bullfrog on the shore. She hand hunkered down as she had often seen her mother do, and crept upon it. To even her own surprise, when the cub pounced she had actually caught the creature and while it squirmed until it got away, Visola was very proud of herself. Little did she know her father was watching. He didn't say anything.. but.. vi thought she had seen the ghost of a smile. Just for a moment.
And she became determined to prove herself a worthy member of the pride right then. She didn't need friends. She didn't need trust. But, she would show them all she was just as strong and brave and useful as they were. And so as soon as she was able she began learning from her mentors. She trained and practiced rigorously until her muscles cramped and her bones ached. A borderline perfectionist.. she pushed herself harder than anyone else did. And her hard work eventually paid off. She became an accomplished hunter. She was still not as brawny or tall as other lions in the pride, but she was fierce and tenacious and always cooking up a great plan. Her body had morphed into sleek toned muscle. She was agile and swift on her feet, and she used her intelligence to outwit the prey she could not outrun.
Now she is a respected Huntress. But, she never did let her guard down around others. She is elusive when she's not on duty, and comes across as an aloof and cold shouldered creature.
She fought alongside both her parents and her siblings in War of the Royals. Sadly, her mother perished and her father was gravely injured, following after her mother only months later. Her siblings never speak to her, still placing blame on her as a bad luck omen, and the reason their parents did not survive.
