Despite her job keeping her mostly indoors and either lecturing at the university, preparing for her classes, or doing some additional research at the library Marcy has always been drawn out to nature. She grew accustomed to little sunlight, light from lanterns and candles, and closed, often small, rooms but still every chance she gets she likes to get outside - breathe in the forest air, climb a mountain, put her paws in the water. There's nothing quite like it anywhere else.
Today she has no concerns - school semester ended, she graded and passed back all tests and papers, her own research is perfectly on track, some books she ordered have yet to arrive, and she's done with all the other chores. That means she can walk through this shallow water however long she wants to and she can enjoy the sunlight on her fur from sunrise to sundown.
Oh what she'd give to have days like that never end... But the research she's doing is important (or feels important) and she knows deep in her heart that even if she could stay out here and never go back, she'd eventually miss her books, the stuffed air, and candlelight in the library that makes it hard to read sometimes. And so she's just enjoying these moments of peace and quiet before going back to her work... Until next time, Nature!
