Come the 2010s, more additions were made such as the iconic wetness indicator that changed from yellow to blue after being wet, and the particularly clever 'triple absorbent channels' which replaced the diaper's main single absorbent core, which was prone to droop and sag heavily when very wet, with three parallel ones. Which not only reduced sagging, but their rounded surfaces provided a larger surface area which also funneled liquids into their ridges to trap and absorb them into the diaper better.
Also, we got the introduction of size 7 diapers, for larger (or older) toddlers, and if that wasn't enough, size 8s! For even larger (or older) kids!
There's also a push for more environmentally friendly diapers throughout the years, as disposables have been notorious for their terrible effect on the environment, while being a necessity for any baby. So certain brands are making a push for more biodegradable diapers, while not as fancy or as colorful as their mainline counterparts, they will still serve their purpose for any environmentally conscious parent who wishes for a better future for their child, without needing to switch entirely to cloth which often requires heavy use of water for cleaning.
Aside from all the improvements there was also some testing of a new type of diaper in the works, disposable training pants, or "Pull-Ups" were introduced in the 90s as a way for young kids to eventually graduate to underwear, they resembled a mix of diapers and briefs, being able to be pulled off and on by the kid wearing them, without any tapes to fasten them, and their sides could be ripped if they needed to be changed while laying down. So the idea of tapeless diapers intended for babies and toddlers started to pop up around this time as well, seeing plenty of experimentation and a good amount of success, it appears that the future of diapers might be going tapeless.
