Concept art for something I have upcoming. Basically seeing if I can...sortof balance a simple werewolf costume design with fashion sensibilities.
The Idea is also to create something that is very blatantly a werewolf, but still simple, easy to wear and not OVER costumey (Consider Werewolf the Apocalypse larp for instance... a full costume just would not work aesthetically, it would be overkill and taking it off and putting it on between forms would just be intensely impractical. Now this is still almost overkill, especially if you are playing in a park... BUT would be ideal for a moot-game if you are out at a campsite or private venue. And its easy on, easy off)
Utilizes this shell: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7903225/
and though it dosnt show it in the artwork, the lower jaw would be detachable-reatatchable and could...maybe hang around the neck when not attached to the headpiece.
Undersides of the arms would be either a knit-jersey material that could either match the fur color OR contrast in non-natural colors for a more fashion oriented direction.
Garment's hands are soft foam, and the wearers digits would be on the underside so dexterity is preserved. Im thinkin... soft foam for the claws. Probably.
Interior could be lined, or have a pocket added for item cards or whatever.
Could come with painted plastic eyes, or taxidermy glass eyes in 3 colors. Custom colors available but pricey.
Um...guy's version would have more of an open vest-cut
Will run $400 to $575+ depending on fur choices, expression choices (which can be anything from dead neutral as the shell comes, or snarly as hell), bottom AND top teeth(needed for snarl), special eyes, horns, electronics, etc etc...
Prototype cometh...

This is an amazing concept. I can't wait to see one done! Also, something that might help you with this project. I found someone selling these furred claws at FWA this year. They were snug and were more like gauntlets in a since so that all your fingers were still use-able but the top of your hand made it to where it looked like you had massive claws. It was the coolest thing ever and maybe you could use that same concept for the hands in this project~
Wonderful! Again I can't wait to see this done~ One other cool idea for keeping costs down, maybe a 'use your own eyes' concept would help drastically with vision. I've been to a few larps before and I can't imagine what I would do if I didn't have most of my vision for the battles. Plus, it would get rid of the need for the glass eyes~
Uhh..yyyeah, I guess there's no reason that couldn't be done, would just be a matter of using one of my other shells. This particular concept though is dealing with something a little more... UMPH-ish, if ya get me, less human, more creatury, a little more impressive, a little more imposeing, bulking up the wearer a bit and giveing a more feral impression. Though on a happy note, the shell i have in mind for this has REALLY really good vision as tearduct vision goes. And depending on what the client wants, the eyes come with the thing right out of the mold (unless they want glass, then I have to set eyes, but the shell makes it easypeasy.
Holy crap this is amazing!
I adore the idea, I travel a lot and have been looking for something that's more costumey but still packs down small. I've seen those paw-scarves and animal head hats around, but they always seemed kinda cheesy and not monsterish enough.
Out of curiosity, is the shell fiberglass or something equally durable? How would you wash something like this?

Urethane shell thats pretty durable- you shouldnt intentionally smack it on stuff but it will stand up to your average con-going, dances and such. Washing would depend on how much airbrushing you do, but pretty much care would be like how you would treat a fursuit: A good spray with anti-bac and laid or hung up to air out thouroughly. Cold water wipe-downs for stains : )
I REALLY look forward to seeing the prototype on this <3 I also took a closer look at your use-your-own-eyes masks... Nnnnn I am wishing for tax return time to come around again so I'll have the spare $$$ to pounce your commission slots. (And I work at a financial office and just finished salvaging my soul from THIS years tax return rush for the clients XD). Either I'm insane, or I have a serious case of the gimme's.
I think it's both. But I will exercise adult-like patience and restraint and simply stalk your account instead of utterly destroying the Moving Fund XD

Yes yes yes!! This is very similar to a design I'd been rolling around in my head for a sort-of-partial suit - only better, my idea didn't include the arms and I think they not only look awesome but will help the head stay in place. What are you planning on using for the long fur/hair at the back? I was hoping to get a hold of some horsehair to use for that - though having never worked with it before I've no idea what to expect. Obviously you have waaaay more knowledge in these areas than me though XD I just can't wait to see this made for real. I'm all for fursuit-fashion compromises that are more comfortable, less toony and more flattering to the human underneath :3
