Ugh. Adds are the digital equivalent of cockroachs! It's getting worse on YouTube too; and it's stupid! If anything, adds are counterproductive, however minor the annoyance, that's an immediate negative reaction to the product or service you're being beaten over the head with!

on desktop get a adblocker plug in or on phone, use a app browser with adblock buit in. :{} ya FA is going pretty crazy tho with ads. I need to update my browser soon since it takes a half a second to get rid of the ads (the quick flash of the myriads of ads is a funny amusing thing tho heh.)

and the more ads you're forced to load, the slower the website gets because it's loading all the ads before the content you actually want. I used to be on DSL with only a 1.5mbps download speed. And believe me. There were some websites I couldn't go to because there was 50 ads on a single page. And FA's getting pretty bad these days itself. I'm not yet running a blocker, but I think I'm running a plugin that restored FA to the classic look minus a few ad sections

Just by loading this journal, my adblock is going nuts trying to block all the ads, at 112.

FA probably is spamming ads far more than the average websites. Might be a programmed loop maybe to detect a new page load or a failed ad display and the adblock might be detecting all the attempts. The rapid fire of ads might cause the ad block glitch up too.

really? there's only two to 4 spots for ads per FA page (and mine says just 2 for this page), so its blocking something else or deeper as web page either fails to load and keeps trying... or the adblocker in question is summing up all gained from multiple pages of fa browsing.

Yes, some of these ads are a bit invasive too (exploiting to make it harder to close or hide)

Oh yeah, on my phone this ad covered half the page, I had to minimize it, then close it. I know FA is struggling with money but damn Dragoneer, there are other ways to make a website profitable.

I suppose they need ad revenue for their servers, buuuut if they actually updated and made the platform more modern they'd get people who'd buy fa+

Not that I noticed on desktop, but I use my adblocker to filter external ads. For me it's just the: 2 up top, 1 mid scroll, and 3 on the bottom. I like the FA ads because they specifically are furry related, kinda adds to the aesthetic for me. Plus they keep the server on, and so hopefully the site doesnt have to get sold off again.

On the phone there is a much more noticeable change.

I do hope the site gets sold off, my buddy wants to buy it and make some drastic improvements, like... name changes! :O

I have ublock origin on both my phone's firefox and here. I don't have any custom rules for furaffinity.

EDIT: Make sure its Origin, the other has all sorts of very bad press around it.

My adblock isn't getting them all, which I don't mind disabling on FA. But right now adblock is saying there are 82 ads being blocked on this journal page.

Which Adblocker are you using? If you are on Chrome I recommend Adbloc Plus - simple addon and it gets pretty much all ads

Or use a script blocker instead (stronger but conflicts with all web-games and some websites) like Brave web browser has antiscript built in.

tbh I didn't notice till you pointed it out, I just us PC so idk if there's a difference on mobile but the ads are pretty out of the way

Eh, I was wondering if it was just me.

I got an ad blocker...but usually leave it off for this site 'cause most ads are by artists on here. Recently though, I've gotten a few really disruptive ads that covers have the page for movies or streaming websites. Those leave a bad taste in my mouth.

So yeah, definitely more ads.

Glad it wasn't just me, I kept thinking about it and finally felt like making a journal about it.
