To those driving to FC:

It's FurCon time again and I know that like half the people on this website are going. This is just a heads-up to the people who are driving there: the highways are bad right now.
Driving down I-5 from Oregon and Washington, the mountain pass from Ashland (Southern Oregon) to Redding (Northern California) can be tricky on a good day. The road is steep, windy, with blind corners and semi-trailers. With the addition of possible snow and ice, the road could be pretty dangerous, if not closed. The road reports say I-80 from Reno is about the same, though I have no personal experience of it.
I'm sure there are plenty of you out there with experience driving in these kind of conditions, but I'm certain that at least an equal number of you are not. Before you leave, make sure your vehicle is in good working condition, check the road condition reports, give yourself lots of time to take it easy and please be safe. Traffic accidents make me so sad.

There are some severe weather warnings for California right now and a few places in San Francisco are already blocked off due to flooding.
Anyway, to all you FC people, driving or not, be safe and have an AWESOME time at the con!

This year, though, not so much. Please be careful through the sierra nevadas. I was thinking about you guys when I wrote this journal. :(
