cause they don't want to be canceled by a bunch of toxic shrieking idiots.
Idiots who will go to your job and your boss and try to get you fired. Who will go to your landlord and try to get you tossed out on the streets.
The fandom has become incredibly toxic. I no longer have anything to do with it myself, beyond coming here to look at art.
I see it all the time on the net now, people will go back TEN years looking for something to make you lose your job. Hell, one race car driver lost his job over something his father said over 50 years ago.
Notice how many of the replies here are using words like 'evidence'.
As a follow up: I popped into FM a few months ago just to say hi to a couple of old friends I hadn't seen in a few years as I don't do cons anymore.
Some dick started SCREAMING at me over a comment I made over Fifteen years ago, that they didn't understand then and which they were still upset about now. FIFTEEN!
Yeah, I'm done with going back there, so maybe they're happy.
With the way cancel culture is, you'd be surprised at just how far cancelers are willing to go down the rabbit hole. Just to find something incriminating about someone.
Maybe they remembered the comment and thought it might be safer to just delete it. Who's to really say though.
Edit: could also have just deleted the account all together? That would remove all the comments they made, right?
I've done it in the past because of ppl spamming comments and it just gets anoying but I don't just delete mine I delete everything to end it to get rid of the ppl who have to much time on their hands
Could be the work of fearing the Furry Inquisition or, even more terrifying, trying to hide lascivious comments they made from the eye of their new (or prospective) SO.
As long as its not in fear of the workplace finding what kind of person they are from their FA posts!
right? i got some old art with comments deleted. like wtf
i get way more faves and comments are random and those that were nice just change their mind?
I never understood that. Especially when they weren't even bad or "weird" comments. I know some were deleted that were nothing more than short "cute piece" or "nice character" type comments, deleted months to years after they were first made. Very strange.
I had a friend who used to do this with ALL their comments, they also unwatched literally everyone after they reached a certain amount of watchers so they gained 'popularity' seeming like they were 'elite'
It was to boost their own ego :/ I don't get it tbh
Why are you surprised?
If a one-year old posted 'I shit in my pants' 90 years ago? If that 91 year old made an enemy today? They will use that against them and as it is pretty easy to make an enemy, seeing how you can't talk to some people, because they want to be insulted, so they are insulted by anything you might say?
I can understand why some people are paranoid.
What has been said, cannot be unsaid again. Also some people want to wipe their past due to may bad memories. But still they show then that they're just weak souls. Weak enough that they will end up in another life on earth not getting to their inner piece. :3
I suppose some people eventually decide they didn't like that they said before? I mean I'd seen that on my site a few times... heck i had some people asking me after 5 years to make their posted commission pic private.
There are people who would go through someone's entire history just to find something to use against them. Anything that can be used will be used in those cases.
So, people delete their old comments because some people will use these comments out of context to harass them.
i think ive done that twice since joining back in July, once because i replied to the wrong person by mistake and the other because i felt a bit insecure and thought my comment was unwelcome or a bit much and i was just being dumb
Mh, i said to much shit everyday for remember every of them. '>'
(Smol edit : I think it's easy to forget what comme you made when you didn't do it with a bad attitude or goal... So maybe some people who delete their old comment feel guilty or something else.)
Lol xD
I don't know the context, but I've seen it happen a lot over the internet. I guess it is regret about what they did and "clearing" any evidences that could expose them somehow xP
I've never deleted anything except to make an almost immediate minor change in something, even the stupid or embarrassing stuff. I'm perfectly happy to stand behind and/ or explain any of the lame shit I say!
Never blocked anyone either, and wouldn't unless they straight-up harassed me.
But then, I'm one of those folks who doesn't give a toss what most people think of me. Not everyone feels that way.
Never understood this myself. Perhaps they feel these comments no longer reflect their current views/opinions, and they wish to preserve their current image?
On the other hand, leaving them there so people can see how you have grown as a person serves a much better purpose in my opinion, so... Yeah.
Anything you say, can and will be used against you in a court full of furries.
You said "old comment", so I just threw the possibilities of why someone could delete an old comment.
And yes lol

And how determined do you have to be, to actually track that comment down in the first place?
Maybe they remembered the comment and thought it might be safer to just delete it. Who's to really say though.

But
I usually don't know who they were o.o
Also
I've seen peoples taste change and they remove them cause they don't feel the same anymore
As long as its not in fear of the workplace finding what kind of person they are from their FA posts!

COMMENT REMOVED
Is this supposed to be in reference to to a specific event/incident or something?
It was to boost their own ego :/ I don't get it tbh

Seriously tho, I have no idea why one would delete their comment if it isn´t incriminating at all.
but i think many do so to delete evidence, yes
Good love to you fluffy)

Still makes no sense.
Then again, what happens on the internet will stay on the internet, provided someone is always monitoring comments posted.
