This is another lark, done for LunarKeys. ;3
This one... Oh...
I did that bust for feesh a while back... but something about the design felt flat to me, so I wanted to make them something a bit more dynamic.
Add to that the fact that Keys and I are both videogame nerds, and This slowly became an item of conception.
They have an OLD icon of a similar nature, but the resolution is so small that it's hardly useful, even as a telegram or FA icon.
I noticed the key in that image had a very... Vertical health-bar feel to it... kind of like the fancier ones you saw in the Megaman X series and beyond.
I also thought the design of the key itself was cute, and so, I pieced together a number of resources.
There's some Persona inspiration to be sure, but in order to not mimic it TOO closely, i operated entirely on memory, rather than use references. This gives it a "looks like, but isn't" Vibe that I still think is pretty crisp and attractive to look at.
Also a bit more glowey, fanciful frippery, much like you might see on Hollow Knight...
Ultimately, it was a playful bit of practice that leaned towards the concept of game design. Uu U
Some of you may or may not recognize the silhouette... It's actually from one of the very first pictures Keys ever got, from Catmonk Shiro!
I *Did* update it a bit... tweaking the tail, hands, and paw-feet... all little things to get it up to date with Key's current aesthetics. I don't think Shiro will mind too much.
I... think that's about all there is to add about this piece! :D
I imagine it as part of a metroidvania game than a full RPG, however... even if "Keys" origins were indeed in tabletop DnD. ;3
