Later, at the Viracroix Palace...
TMV: Mister Zev, I am deeply sorry about this dreadful incident, and I can assure you, neither you, nor any of your associates are in any trouble over this. After speaking with my guards, it's clearly a case of self-defense and protecting your property. I do regret that our medical facilities are unfamiliar with your people, but they assure me that your mate is doing well and is expected to make a full recovery. I also wish to thank you for eliminating those foul brigands. Had we any idea of the depths of depravity they were up to, we would have dealt with them long before this. As it stands, their ship has been confiscated, the surviving crew taken into custody, and several slaves have been rescued. I'm also informed there was a substantial bounty on several crew members, so payment is being arranged.
I have been informed that you have declined my offer of diplomatic accommodations at the palace, as well as the offer of guards outside your home. Under any other circumstances, I'd endeavor to convince you otherwise, but after the battle, the populace are all exceptionally well aware of your ability to protect yourselves. You shant be having any further trouble.
Zev: Thank you, Trademaster. We appreciate your concern and assistance.
TMV: I'm just grateful that your mate is going to be alright, Mister Zev, and again, I'm assured that they are being provided the best care possible. But if I may, other than the reports of your outstanding martial capabilities, my people are confused by the manner in which the brigand's leader met his demise. Apparently he has a rather large hole that was burned through his head. More interestingly, it appears that whatever caused the hole kept going, burning it's way through fourteen inches of abobe brick, mortar and plaster, as well as a structural column of solid wood. This is, of course, in addition to the iron skull cap he was wearing, so my people have asked if I could inquire as to whether or not you have any insight into how this hole was created?
Zev: *stares quietly*
TMV: I see. Well! Again, I do apologize for this, and I dearly hope that whatever assistance we can offer offsets the distress you and your kin have suffered. While I will respect your declining of a guard presence outside your home, I do hope you will forgive me if I place a small detachment in the neighborhood. If there's anything you need, anything at all, please let them know, and they will see to it immediately.
