I love them too! They give him such a striking silhouette, and the color scheme really stands out in such a pleasant way! Not to mention they look so nicely expressive.
As for the tail, the reference point for it was the Count Raggi's bird-of-paradise's extremely fluffy looking tailfeathers. I loved how soft and elegant they looked, so I wanted Azen to have it too!
