When all is ash and ruin, and when you have naught but the scarred remains of your life to look forward to, who could blame a young phoenix for thinking that this was all there was to life? A life spent watching those around you collapse under their mistakes, knowing that you were the catalyst behind their falls. Although they may not know it, even the phoenix is not immune to their own power. Their own weakness crumbles, and everything that falsity supported falls away in time as well.
Some just choose to go, and abandon all their responsibilities. Others try to understand and make amends. And some... Some choose to do both. Maybe they discover that, should a phoenix die beyond the capacity of their healing to revive them, a new phoenix will be born at the next solstice. And should they find this out, they may choose to take their leap to ensure that the summer solstice is closest to them. This is how they pick up the pieces and move on, and how they burn, when nothing is left in their life but pain.
What few realize is how deeply their meaning and power affect them, and how inevitable this is in many cases. They may try to think that there were options, or that choices they made could have turned differently. But sometimes the largest weakness we have, the biggest lie we tell ourselves...
...is that one day, everything will be okay.
