But, it was an excellent opportunity for Erasmus to pop up again. His story starts in Australia in the mid to late 1800’s with his birth, heads in a different direction in South America with his discovery of the Jaguar Mask, and continues into the future as part of his partnership with the remnant of an intelligence contained within the mask (and partly within him as well.)
This is probably late 2100’s looking at the prospects of his first long journey through deep space. This is his first time pondering the realities of being functionally immortal; living a long life is one thing, but finally realizing that the timeframes you were used to no longer applied…. It is his first step towards transhumanism (or transmarsupialism as the case may be.)
Side note: The entity is almost entirely benevolent. It is driven by the need to discover, learn, and explore; it likes its host and appreciates their similar drives and ethical codes. It does not like the song Daisy Bell in the least, it would open the pod bay doors for Erasmus.
